Kui Tan Field Report : HongKong Cafe

25.07.2006
DINNER
This is special as I have also provided some sort of a field report on the food I ate.
Went to Ubi to look for Char Siew Rice but accidentally came across the shop selling Authentic HK food, so what the hack...eat

On the menu, they have HK Steam Rice and herbal soup, but i decided to order something that one can immediately spot the difference : Wantan Mee...
Nothing great about the shop, I think you might have problem spotting it, cos there were more than 4 coffee shops in the same area.
Service wise, they are trying very hard to promote the Steam Rice together with Herbal Soups....after I placed my order, the lady went back inside to continue her chat until my noodles is ready
The moment of truth...
The wantan mee was kinda disappointing...cos i was expecting the HK size wantan...but instead i got the Singapore size wantan...haiz...and the chives are missing too...
Soup was a bit too salty and oily...but the noodle was ok...not lumpy...the only comforting part of this field trip...
I also ordered a glass of HK Lemon Tea... was hoping the authentic HK Lemon Tea....but when i got it...haiz...again
Maybe I should have tried the steamed rice with herbal soup or even the Hong Kong Hawker Noodles (Zhe-Zai Mian)...they might even tasted better...
Well....maybe next time...
But I would give a 2.5 out 5 for this field trip...
NOte...the shop is located in the heart of Ubi Avenue...It is near the "Shop N Save", U wun miss it.
